Schiele Masonry began work in mid-November at the Polson Flathead Historical Museum to replace the glass brick windows that had been damaged by vandalism during Summer 2018.

Interestingly, Larry Schiele built the building, which stands at 708 Main St. in Polson, more than 60 years ago when it was originally a brick-making enterprise.

J.F. (Fay) McAlear purchased the building in the late 1960s after receiving the Allard stagecoach as a donation, with the provision that he start a museum in Polson which was accomplished in 1972 after years of hard work.

Museum board director Steve Sherick arranged for the work to be completed.

Replacing the museum’s glass brick windows is only a small part of the work that is required in the near future as the building requires extensive exterior work including a new roof.
