Sentencing for one of a trio of teenagers accused of robbing, burgling and beating up their victims last summer in downtown Coeur d’Alene was postponed Monday, although two of the teens have already been sentenced.

Sentencing for 16-year-old Anthony Duran Burden Jr., who is charged with robbery, was rescheduled for Dec. 5 before First District Judge John Mitchell.

Burden Jr. initially faced six felonies for a June 27 crime spree committed with two other Spokane teens, but a plea agreement calls for dismissing five charges in exchange for a 10-year maximum sentence for one felony.

The court is expected to retain jurisdiction, allowing the teen to be incarcerated long enough to complete a department of corrections rehabilitation program before being placed on probation. He will also pay $358 restitution, according to the agreement.

Burden was among three teenagers charged in a series of downtown Coeur d’Alene robberies after being arrested in a getaway car heading west on Interstate 90 near Atlas Road.

The trio — including 17-year-old Kaden Andrew Fisher-Graham and Camron Thomas Pearson, 18 — were accused of scoping out potential victims seated outside eateries in downtown Coeur d’Alene, before stealing a cellphone, credit cards and billfold from a dinner table at the Unchained Tap House and fleeing with the items.

Fisher-Graham lost his right, size 9, Nike athletic shoe while running from a crime scene. Police found the matching shoe in the car stopped on I-90 following the afternoon robberies.

Fisher-Graham, 17, was sentenced last week to a five-year term for grand theft of a financial transaction card as part of a plea arrangement. He will also enroll in a rehab program before being placed on probation and he was ordered to pay $358 restitution.

Pearson was sentenced to 10 years for aggravated battery. The court retained jurisdiction until he also completes a prison “rider,” or rehab program, and he will pay $358 restitution.

Pearson was accused of punching a man, and knocking him out, in the Third Street parking garage before punching a woman twice in the face while another one of the trio grabbed her purse before fleeing. Police used surveillance video from the McEuen Park garage to identify the teens.

All three of the teens had prior criminal records, prosecutors said.

Pearson was facing juvenile charges in Washington at the time of the Coeur d’Alene crimes.

Deputy Kootenai County prosecutor Donna Gardner called the incident a gang crime, but defense attorney Jed Nixon denied the teens were part of a gang.

“He was part of a gang that day,” Gardner said. “A group of young men engaged in a sophisticated (criminal) activity.”

Nixon objected to the characterization.

“There was absolutely no evidence of gang affiliation,” Nixon said. “We want to be clear … it’s far from what happened that day.”

Mitchell recommended Pearson undergo anger treatment while in the rider program.
