4-H hosting open house event today

SANDPOINT — Bonner County 4-H is now open for enrollment. New families have until Feb. 1, 2019 to get enrolled and complete projects for the 2019 Bonner County Fair.

Bonner County has a thriving 4-H program with 17 active 4-H clubs. 4-H is America’s largest youth development organization — empowering nearly six million young people across the U.S. with the skills to lead for a lifetime. 4-H members develop life skills by completing 4-H projects with guidance from volunteers who have expertise in agriculture, science, technology or other areas.

Bonner County 4-H offers more than 60 different projects that include horse, large livestock projects (beef, swine, sheep and goats), small animal projects (dog, cat, rabbit and poultry) and non-animal projects that include shooting sports (archery, rifle, pistol) sewing, cooking, hiking, survival, art, leathercraft, woodworking, photography, gardening and more.

The home of the Bonner County 4-H Program is the University of Idaho Extension Program.To learn more about how you can join 4-H, attend an open house enrollment event today, Nov. 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the Bonner County Extension Office.
