For many locals, Black Friday was a chance to get out to local businesses for their holiday shopping.
At AuntT’s Coffee Corner on Mineral Avenue, a collection of vendors selling everything from handmade hats to honey-based products and even rings made from coins greeted the holiday shoppers the day after Thanksgiving.
Libby Middle School student Derrek Cole was there selling candles as part of a fundraiser for the band, with $8 from each $20 candle sold going toward a new shelving unit for the instruments, he said.
Shaunie Fisher, with Alpaca Montana Mill was helping out Eric Nyberg of Krinklehorn Caps with his booth. Nyberg’s handmade caps began with him learning to sew only about a year ago, and has turned into a full blown business venture.
Nyberg said that he is working on using more local materials — such as Fisher’s alpaca wool — and even considering adding employees to his operation to help with production.
