The Plains Trotters had a week off of games after a hectic start to the season, but are set and ready to finish the second half strong.

Trotters head coach Jess Butcher said that though her team had a steady start to the season they are ready to finish strong.

“We have a couple of really great young players that are kind of a secret weapon for us that I am certain will really help us this second half,” said Butcher.

She went on to say that her team as a whole have truly come into their own as a team, and aren’t playing as individual players — rather starting to formulate key plays together.

“We’ve been working really hard during our practices and are excited for the back half of the season — we will have a different look on the court,” said Butcher.

One such key player is Emma Morgan. ”She is nowhere near her peak potential yet. She is certainly our most consistent out-of-system player,” explained Butcher. “She adjusts to the plays extremely well-growing confidence and coming into her own as an athlete on the court.”

Another player to keep an eye on, said Butcher, is that of Miera Loberg. Loberg is an outside hitter for the Trotters varsity team, and Butcher is confident she is going to make an impression as they get set to take on the Noxon Lady Devils this week. That is Thursday, with the JV match at 5:30 p.m. and varsity action to follow around 7 p.m. The Trotters are then idle until they host Hot Springs on Oct. 4.

Overall, Butcher said her team is energized to take on their upcoming matches and after a week of down time, they will be fresh and ready to go.
