SANDPOINT — Litehouse, Inc. recently expanded its Hurricane, Utah manufacturing facility to keep up with the significant growth the Sandpoint-based company has seen in recent years. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Sept. 19 to celebrate the completion of the expansion.

Litehouse, which started in a small restaurant in Hope, has grown into a company employing hundreds of local residents, with manufacturing facilities in Sandpoint, Idaho, Hurricane, Utah and Lowell, Michigan.

The expansion in Hurricane added 175,000 square feet to the existing facility, tripling the square footage. This added space allows for increased production and revenue, with expansions to the building, cooler and landscaped areas. The Hurricane expansion follows a similar expansion Litehouse completed at its Sandpoint-based manufacturing facility earlier this year, which added 26,000 square feet of additional space.

“Whenever we expand our production capacity and invest in our business through equipment and facility expansion, it brings greater opportunity for us to serve our customers and ultimately continue growing our business,” said CEO and President Jim Frank. “Being a 100 percent employee owned company, it’s a win for all of our employee owners in Idaho, Utah and Michigan who share in the company’s success.”

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Litehouse executives also presented a $10,000 check to the Learning Center for Families, a local non-profit health, social service and school readiness agency. The Learning Center for Families currently serves over 800 vulnerable families in Hurricane, Utah and the surrounding areas.

Litehouse, Inc. started in the Hope restaurant of the Hawkins family over 50 years ago. Since that time, it has become the leader in refrigerated salad dressings, dips, cheese and other innovative consumer packaged goods, manufacturing the products at its five U.S. facilities based in Michigan, Utah and Idaho. Litehouse offers its diverse portfolio of products through general retail, e-commerce, foodservice, deli, member stores, and value-added goods where Litehouse products are featured in meal and salad kits.
