Two Lincoln County men are among 19 recipients of the 2018 Montana Congressional Veteran Commendation, the office of Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte has announced.
The men are John Alex of Libby, who served in the U.S. Air Force and Vietnam War, and Charles Kins of Eureka, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
Gianforte created the annual award in 2017 “to recognize outstanding Montana veterans who have honorably served our nation and our communities,” states a news release.
“The generosity and dedication of Montana’s veterans make our state a special place,” Gianforte states in the news release. “On behalf of all Montanans, I thank them for their selfless service to our country and their invaluable contributions to our communities.”
Gianforte will present the recipients with a commemorative flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor at a ceremony, and also highlight the recipients in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In July, Gianforte asked Montanans to help him identify nominees for this year’s award, and their response was overwhelming, the news release states.
