EPHRATA — A Moses Lake woman who assaulted a police officer during a response to a domestic violence report in May has received a suspended sentence as part of a plea deal.

Patty Sue McLean, of Moses Lake, pleaded guilty to third degree assault of a police officer and obstructing a law enforcement officer, and was sentenced to 364 days in the Grant County Jail, with 363 of those days suspended for two years, according to court documents.

McLean was arrested on May 16 after Moses Lake Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1200 block of South Baker Street in Moses Lake between McLean and a male suspect, Craig McLean.

According to the police report, Patty McLean recanted previous statements made to police and “said she lied about being assaulted by Craig.” She then attempted to prevent police from entering the residence, and when MLPD officers tried to warn her against getting too agitated, she shouted threats and racial slurs at the African-American officer and then kicked him in the shin.

After Moses Lake police officers arrested her, Mclean continued to resist, at one point preventing officers from securing her in the back seat of their patrol car, slipping off her handcuffs and removing her seat belt while being transported to the Grant County Jail.
