BONNERS FERRY — On Oct. 4, the Badger boys soccer team played a home game against St. George’s School.

St. George scored early on, roughly five minutes in. The Badgers then had eight shots on the goal, compared to St. George’s three, finishing with a last-minute score to tie the contest.

“The game was a bit of a nail biter, if you ask me,” said coach Wayne Wilkerson.

With a 12-0-3 overall record for the regular season, the Badger boys are keeping up with the competition.

“We earned a bye in the first round of IML district play. We’ll meet Grangeville on Thursday, Oct. 11, in Rathdrum for the semi-finals. If we win we’ll play in the championship game on Saturday, Oct. 13, also at Lakeland Junior High,” said Wilkerson.

Grangeville (5-8) won its opening district match 6-1 over Priest River on Monday, with St. Maries (8-6-1) topping Orofino in the other opening game.

The Badgers and Grangeville square off at 1 p.m. at Sunrise Rotary Field, near Lakeland Junior High in Rathdrum. St. Maries and Timberlake (9-6) meet in the other district semifinal, with the two winners meeting in Saturday’s district championship match.
