Over the weekend, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a shooting in Agency, just outside of Dixon in the eastern part of Sanders County.

Sanders County deputies and a detective, along with Lake County deputies and Tribal officers, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found William Conco Camel deceased at the scene.

All agencies were dispatched to the area at 11:16 p.m. on Oct. 5 after receiving a 911 call stating a person had been shot. There was no confirmation on who had alerted authorities.

Sheriff Tom Rummel said in a press release that this was an open investigation to which the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office has identified three persons of interest directly related to this crime.

There have been speculations made on social media forums as to the identities of those of interest, but no confirmation could be made by the sheriff at press time Monday.

Though due to the nature of the crime that took place, the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office press release determined “that there is not a threat to the public.”

More information will be released regarding this incident when it becomes available.

This is the third shooting in Sanders County this year so far. The last incident occurred in Thompson Falls and the case is still open regarding the death of Matt Lafriniere.
