BENTON CITY — Warden scored eight goals in the second half to beat Kiona-Benton 11-0.
Junior forward Aaliyah Escamilla recorded a hat trick and Ashlyn Yamane played facilitator with three assists.
Despite the lopsided final score, the game was scoreless through 25 minutes.
“It was a slow start,” head coach Hannah Mohs said. “There was a lot of boot ball and it took us a while to settle down. Second half we got creative and changed the lineup — defense and offense switched.
“This gave us more space to move and we finally found out feet.”
Warden scored all 11 of its goals in just over 50 minutes of game time.
All-state forward Aubree Skone returned from injury to score twice and Bailey Whitney matched Escamilla with a hat trick of her own. Kennedy Kilmer, Camryn Kilmer and Grace Richins added one goal apiece.
“It was a physical game and the girls had to learn how to keep their composure and respect the game,” Mohs said.
