Shopping district shaking off the dust

The trucks and dust are gone, and construction season is complete and the Sandpoint Shopping District is ready to celebrate.

Downtown businesses are hosting “Dust Off Downtown” on Thursday, Oct. 25, as they welcome area residents for some fun and support from 4-8 p.m.

Events include a shopping “happy hour” from 4-7 p.m. events and activities, and live music in several locations downtown from 5-8 p.m., sponsored by Ting. Playing will be Mostly Harmless on the outside deck of Jalapenos on Second Avenue, live music by RFB (Right Front Burner) at the Panida Little Theater alcove on First Avenue, and family area and disc jockey by Sandcreek Sound in the Petal Talk parking lot on Cedar Street. And, while you’re downtown, corrall the family and play a life-size game of Connect 4, Jenga, cornhole, or ladder ball.

Additional activities include s’mores at Understory Coffee, musicians and an open house at the Music Conservatory, drawings and doggy prizes at I Saw Something Shiny (sponsored by Panhandle Animal Shelter), outdoor treats at A&P’s, and in-store activities at La Chic Boutique (benefiting NAMI), and The Alpine Shop, and more. Azalea will have wine from Pend d’Oreille Winery, food from Amazing Grazing, and 25 percent off any 1 item.

Chamber officials said the downtown businesses really took a hit this summer and fall with the unavoidable construction.

“Let’s show them some support and enjoy an evening out with the family,” Kate McAlister, chamber president and CEO said.

“Supporting local keeps our entire community thriving.”
