Superior Senior Night casts spotlight

It was Senior Night in Superior on Oct. 19 where Alberton students Michael Spence and Korey Radford were introduced, along with Superior’s Sophia Krutilla, who is one of the team’s managers. Sophia was escorted onto the field by Jeff, Kristy and Madison Mask, and her parents are Kirk and Jenny Krutilla. After graduation, she plans on attending the University of Montana to study physical therapy. “I want to thank my parents for all of their love and support. My friends for making my past four years unforgettable and the Mask family for letting me eat their food and take naps at their house,” she wrote in a statement.

Michael was escorted onto the field by his parents, Annette and Patrick Spence. He plans on attending Montana State University after graduation to study aviation. “I would like to thank my mom and dad for pushing me to go to practice everyday, even when I didn’t want to,” he said. He also thanked his coaches for pushing him to be the best athlete he could be.

Korey Radford was escorted by his parents, Claudia and Donney Radford. He is also planning on attending MSU to study computer programming.

“I would like to thank by brother for pushing me and my family and friends for supporting me,” he said in his statement.

Senior Night was also held in Superior on Oct. 20 for volleyball, where three seniors were escorted onto the court to be introduced. Sisters Kathryn and Margaret Parkin, both Superior students, were escorted by their parents, Michelle and Richard Parkin. Kathryn thanked her coaches and teammates for making her senior year “one to remember.” Margaret thanked her parents for giving her sister and herself, “a second chance at a better life and for supporting us and pushing us to be better people.”

She also thanked her coaches and teammates, “for the best season I could have asked for and memories I’ll keep with me forever.”

Madison Mask, a four-year varsity volleyball player from Superior, was escorted by her parents, Jeff and Kristy Mask. She thanked her parents for their support, her coaches, the community for supporting their team, and her teammates, “for giving me a memorable season.”

Alberton senior Kristina Solinger was escorted by her brother, Jordan, and mother, Melinda Taapken. She thanked her coaches, her best friend, teammates and the community for their support.
