SANDPOINT — After a busy and successful summer season, the Bonner County Fairgrounds has been honored as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s October Business of the Month.

It has been a year of changes for The Bonner County Fairgrounds. Darcey C. Smith came on board in May as the new Bonner County Fairgrounds & Facility director and Shelli Cowell came on board as the new office manager this May.

Thanks to some wonderful groundwork put in place by the previous director and staff, help from many volunteers, and some very long days, Bonner County Fairgrounds officials said all of this year’s events went on without a hitch. Each event this year was a success, from the Pre-Fair for grade schoolers, to the fantastic rodeo and Demolition Derby. They are currently gearing up for a Halloween Party on Oct. 26 and the Christmas Fair on Nov. 17-18.

The Bonner County Fair couldn’t be successful without the community. Both Smith and Cowell are making every effort to stay connected with the community by having updated information available on the website and Facebook. They have had recent success with public surveys and look forward to putting out more surveys to make sure the residents of Bonner County are able to get their input in and to get the best out of the fairgrounds. They are striving to have the best customer service, customer experience for our fair-goers during the fair and all other events year round.

“I am ecstatic about this opportunity. I have been given many keys to the Fairgrounds. Some I use daily, some I don’t use often, and some no one knows what they are for. However, I won’t take this lightly. I will give it my absolute best to continue to make our small county have the BEST fair ever,” said Smith.
