In the District 3 race for Bonner County commissioner we have two candidates who are polar opposites. I would like to take this opportunity to inform our voters as to why they should reelect Dan McDonald as our commissioner. In order to accomplish this task, I would like to provide a comparison of the two.

Dan McDonald — A successful businessman in the private sector for decades. Currently completing his second of a two-year term in the commissioner’s office. Made an array of campaign promises when he ran in 2016. Has kept those promises and more. Directly communicates with county residents, on any day at any time, by publicly publishing his private cellphone number and email address. Cut the county budget by over $12 million, and is on track to bring annual spending in line with income. Instituted a county purchasing system, saving over $600,000 in the first year alone. Active community volunteer, pro life, family man, dog lover, strong advocate of private property rights, and all around good guy. Republican.

Steve Lockwood — One time elected member of the Lake Pend Oreille School Board. Quit after the first year. One time elected member of the Sandpoint City Council. Quit after his second year. Hides behind a paid staffer to answer questions on his website. Is on record as supporting Syrian refugees being relocated to Bonner County. Claims to be a fiscal conservative, but has no proof of that. Pro abortion. Democrat.

There is only one, clear, logical choice. Reelect Dan McDonald!
