TRAVEL LONG MILES TO WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Crosswhite, 1106 Michigan St., recently set off on the greatest adventure of their lives as they traveled to Brazil for the wedding of their daughter, Millie Mae, who on Sept. 7 was married in Golana, Brazil to Silvio Q. Ribeiro.

In spite of not speaking a word of Portuguese, the couple made the 18,000 mile round trip in a high spirit of adventure. Mrs. Crosswhite said that 37 years before, they had agreed to walk hand in hand through life. On their wedding anniversary this year, they walked hand in hand along a Golana street.

KARST — BROCKUS WEDDING

Orange carnations and gold gladioli decorated First Lutheran Church for the Sept. 28 wedding of Jill Arlene Karst and Craig Norman Brockus. Pastor Donald Taylor performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Karst, Dover; the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brockus, Rte. 2, Sandpoint.

Oct. 30, 1918 — STUDENT NURSES

Idaho now has 184 registrants for student nurses. Some have received their appointments, others are anxiously waiting. The request comes that the campaign for more be continued. Although Bonner county enrolled five more than the quota, yet there may be more young women who would like to avail themselves of this opportunity.

HOSPITAL ASSISTANTS

The Army School of Nursing is offering the position of hospital assistant to married women between the ages of 21 and 40 whose husbands are overseas; also to single women between ages 35 and 45 who are graduates of high schools or acceptable equivalents. They will be assigned to convalescent hospitals in this country where training school units are not established.

CITY BREVITIES

Andrew Christenson received word that his son, Victor, at the military school at Moscow, is in hospital with influenza, but is getting along well.

Will Phalon, who has been seriously ill with influenza complications, is reported better today.

A month’s-old son of Mrs. Lillian Hornburg of Heron, Mont., died at the City hospital Tuesday.
