Whitefish is beginning to gather public input on the corridor plan focusing on the future of land use for the south entrance to the city.

An open house on the Highway 93 South corridor plan is set for Wednesday, Sept. 5 and is an opportunity for the public to provide input on the organization, land use and character of the highway corridor.

“We are very excited to be beginning a comprehensive corridor plan for Highway 93 South,” said Planning and Building Director Dave Taylor. “This is the public’s opportunity to get more information on the planning process, give input on what they think the big issues are with the corridor, and find out how to stay involved.”

The plan will focus on future land use for Highway 93 South from Sixth Street to Blanchard Lake Road south of Montana 40. The corridor is primarily zoned secondary business with some mixed use and residential land uses included.

The open house will be at National Parks Realty’s downstairs meeting rooms, 601 Spokane Avenue, and the public can stop by anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. City Planning staff and Highway 93 South corridor steering committee members will be available to discuss the plan and answer questions.

Two additional public involvement meetings are planned, including a public visioning meeting held in late November or early December.

The creation of a Highway 93 South corridor plan has long been a priority project for the city as set by City Council.
