COEUR d’ALENE — Barring write-in candidates, elections for North Idaho College’s board of trustees will be uncontested. As of the Tuesday filing deadline, only the three incumbents up for re-election had filed to run for their current seats, said NIC vice president Chris Martin.
Christie Wood currently represents zone 1, while Ken Howard represents zone 2, and Joe Dunlap represents zone 4.
According to the board website, the board of trustees’ five members are elected at large by Kootenai County residents to staggered, four-year terms.
Wood is now completing her third term on the local college’s board of trustees. Howard is completing his second term on the board. Dunlap is NIC’s former president and was appointed to the board in January when trustee Judy Meyer stepped down. Dunlap is seeking a two-year term.
According to Martin’s executive assistant Carol Jones, write-in candidates may declare their intent through Sept. 22.
