Thomas Hinderman, 71, of Superior died on Tuesday, Aug. 28 after his white Toyota Tundra went off the road and into the median. The accident happened around 4 a.m. east of Superior near mile marker 54 on Interstate 90.
Hinderman was traveling alone in the westbound lane when the crash occurred, and his truck continued past the median guardrail and then got caught on a bridge guardrail. He then went off the road between two highway decks. His truck hit the embankment twice before resting on the bridge pier support.
He was wearing a seatbelt and survived the crash, and was able to get out of his truck. However, he passed away from blunt force trauma as a result of the accident, according to the Mineral County coroner. His body was found by a passerby about nine hours after the accident occurred. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
