The Libby High School volleyball team continue undefeated after their three-set win against the Flathead Bravettes Tuesday.
Head Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said by email that she loved the strong start by the Lady Loggers, with a 25-8 win in the first set.
Libby accomplished their goals for the match of increasing their serving percentage and improving their blocking, Ostrem-Johnston said. None of the players missed more than one serve, and the team had 94.9 percent for serving.
That included eight aces, with seniors Alli Collins, Jayden Winslow and Emma Gruber leading the team with two each.
Gruber and fellow senior Linsey Walker both had flawless serving with no errors.
Senior Mehki Sykes once again stood out at the net, making 10 kills with a .250 attack percentage and all eight of the team’s blocks.
“Mehki put a lot of pressure on their hitters,” Ostrem-Johnston said.
For the team’s overall attack, the goal is to reach .300, she said. With a .181 against Flathead, that is a goal they are still striving for.
Collins continued to lead the team in assists, and made all 25 of the Lady Loggers’ assists for the match.
The team is also coming close on their 2.25 goal for their serve receive ratio, which was 2.00/3.00 against the Bravettes.
Gruber — who led the Lady Loggers in digs with 16 of the team’s 46 for the match — came closest individually to the team goal with a 2.22, followed by Winslow — who had 12 digs — with 2.18.
The Lady Loggers varsity team will next play Saturday at home, with the froshmore team scheduled to start at 1 p.m., junior varsity at 2:30 p.m. and varsity at 4 p.m.
