The Libby High School volleyball team continued undefeated for the season Saturday after beating the Polson Lady Pirates in three sets Saturday.
With senior Mehki Sykes on the bench for the match, fellow senior Jayden Winslow, with 14 kills, and junior McKenzie Proffitt, with 8, led the attack as the team racked up 40 kills.
The Lady Loggers moved closer to their .300 goal for attack percentage, reaching a .281 against Polson.
Winslow was the all-around player of the night, leading in kills, digs (12) and aces (8), and she still had time to get in two assists during the match. With 95 percent on her serves, Winslow had seven of her eight aces in two runs in the first set alone.
Libby Head Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said that the win was a good team effort, complimenting junior Ashlyn Monigold for serving and passing well, coming off the bench. Monigold also had 100 percent on her serves, as did senior Lynsey Walker, who closed out the match for the Lady Loggers.
Ostrem-Johnston also complimented senior Alli Collins on her effort spreading out the offensive, as she made 34 of the team’s 36 assists for the match. Collins also had 8 of the teams 38 digs for the match.
Second only to Winslow, senior Emma Gruber had 10 of the team’s 38 digs, and hit a 2.11 serve receive ratio.
“It was great to beat a conference opponent in three sets,” Ostrem-Johnston said by email. “We let them get on a couple runs in the third set, but we got on a seven-point run of our own with Lynsey serving to end it.”
Libby will play at Whitefish on Thursday, with the forshmore game starting at 4:15 p.m., junior varsity at 5:45 p.m. and varsity at 7:15 p.m.
