James Vernon Ratliff, 88

Jim was born on Aug. 16, 1930, in El Monte, Calif., to Vernon C. and Rosemary Ratliff. He passed away quietly on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Lewis, on May 16, 1953, and they were married for 65 years. Together they raised six children on the Rocking R8 Ranch, south of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Mica Creek.

He lived a full life, enjoying hobbies from flying, chukar hunting on the Snake River and playing poker. He started Ratliff Realty in the 1960s and was the creator and developer of real estate projects including the subdivision, Indian Meadows and the Ironwood Medical Building west of Kootenai Health.

His family and friends knew him best, and he is leaving behind an example of how to live a loving and compassionate life.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and children: Kathleen Wilson, Kristine Morrow, Sherry Mundt, Susanna Hall, James Ratliff Jr. and Anne Marie Beardslee, their spouses and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He will be missed, but better yet, he will be remembered fondly. Well done, Dad. God bless you.
