PRIEST RIVER — Priest River Lamanna High School's Homecoming week came to a conclusion Friday night after a full week of events, including powderpuff football, a parade and the big homecoming game.

Each year, points are awarded to each class for their homecoming activities and participation, and the rankings are announced during the homecoming football game. This year, the juniors and seniors tied with 850 points, so attendance at the football game was to be the tie breaker. However, both the juniors and seniors had 52 students in attendance. The tie was finally broken by determining the percent in attendance from each class. The seniors took the lead with 73 percent of the class at the football game. Sophomores came in third place with 575 points, and the freshman came in fourth with 450 points.

In addition, this year's most spirited Spartans got to watch the homecoming game from a front-row couch with one guest, and eat pizza delivered by student leadership. Spirit Couch winners were freshman Jessica Cline, sophomore Devin Nessel, junior Jaya Swartz and senior Cassandra Deremer.

And, of course, the homecoming royalty was announced during halftime, with seniors Dalaynee Cook and Max Bombino as this year's king and queen. Their court included freshman prince and princess Zandyr Ayers and Taylor Cochran; sophomore prince and princess Graden Hanes and Ava Driftmeyer; junior prince and princess Grant Ahlers and Harlee Meek; and senior prince and princess Michael Jones and Tabitha Richey.

It was a hard-fought battle during the football game against St. Maries on Friday night, however the Spartans took a loss 25-12. See the Priest River sports on page A10 for the full report.
