MOSCOW — Bonners Ferry High School swimmers Julia Cummings and Seamus Newcomb competed in the Sept. 15 swim meet at the University of Idaho pool.

Julia Cummings placed second out of 15 finishers in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.11, and second out of 12 finishers in the girls 100-yard backstroke (1:05.89).

“Julia Cummings sets herself up as one of the top backstrokers in her division (4A and below), with the top 100 back time of the season,” said coach Greg Jackson.

Junior Seamus Newcomb placed seventh out of 11 finishers in the boys 100-yard breaststroke.

Jackson said the two Badger swimmers, who practice and travel with the Sandpoint High School team, have ramped up their training, so the swimmers are not fully rested.

“Despite the hard work they have put in during the week, they ALL performed very well at the meet,” said Jackson. “They are proving their tenacity, competitiveness, and dedication. I am very proud of their work, and their performances. I am excited to see these swimmers continue to work hard, and succeed.”
