Free tour will explore nearby wetlands ecology

An upcoming guided tour combining a road trip and short, easy hikes will explore wetlands ecology and seek out migrating birds and other fauna and flora. Admission is free.
The day begins 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 with coffee and tea at the Venture Inn in Libby. From there the tour will visit riparian areas in search of various plants and animals. The hikes average less than one mile in round-trip length and are of mild to medium slope.
Organizers advise participants to have a full tank of gas, bring water and lunch, and wear orange safety vests. Spotting scopes, binoculars and cameras are also recommended.The tour will end about 3 p.m.
