Hospital Week

Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata plans to observe Hospital Week with a tea from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital. The hospital auxiliary will sponsor the tea.

The auxiliary also plans to honor nurses and pink ladies during the tea and will give Ephrata High School senior, Margie Millard, a $300 scholarship. She will use the scholarship to attend Wenatchee Valley College to study radiology.

High School advisor Charlotte Dixson will also be honored for her years of service with the auxiliary in the scholarship program.

Meeting canceled

Lack of a quorum canceled Monday’s evening meeting of the Royal City Council. A special meeting will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.

Waste meeting set

A public meeting to present recommendations on regulations for hazardous wastes will be held at the Moses Lake PUD auditorium at 7 p.m. on May 19.

The meeting is one of three scheduled by the state Department of Ecology. Existing state regulations were adopted in 1977, but must be revised to meet legislated charges to the Washington Hazardous Waste Disposal Act.

Regulations cover such areas as defining dangerous and extremely hazardous wastes, establishing a means of safe transport, treatment, storage or disposal and encouraging alternatives to land disposal.

Hansen featured

Sen Frank “Tub” Hansen, D-Moses Lake, will be a guest speaker at a meeting of the Moses Lake Consumer Credit Association at Noon Thursday.

After the noon lunch, Sen. Hansen will discuss the usuary limitation, which the state Legislature lifted during its recent session.

Two tagged turkeys were in back of the Ram, now what? My wild turkeys are skinned after a successful hunting trip. This year the procedure was changed a bit.
