Do you ever wonder if your child’s safety seat is installed correctly?

Are you a new parent who is unfamiliar with car seats?

Or do you ever question the appropriate type of seat based on your child’s age height and weight?

All of those questions can be answered at the Spirit Lake Police Department’s free child safety seat checkup event which is being held from 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, Sept. 28, at the police station, 6159 W. Maine St.

Certified safety seat technicians from Kootenai Health will be on site to inspect installed car/booster seats to ensure proper fit and safety and officers also will be on hand educate parents and drivers about the laws in Idaho regarding car seats in honor of national Child Passenger Safety Week.

There will be a limited number of car seats available for anyone in need on a first-come, first-serve basis courtesy of Miller’s Harvest Food, which is co-sponsoring the event.
