SANDPOINT — A sentencing hearing is pending for a Bonner County man accused of witness intimidation in a felony assault case, 1st District Court records show.

Jayden Mark Day was charged with second-degree kidnapping, aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery following a domestic dispute that unfolded in a vehicle headed east on U.S. Highway 2 on Jan. 14. Day’s legal trouble compounded when he and members of his family allegedly tried to influence testimony in the underlying assault case.

Day’s sister, Destiny Dancing Flower Day, and Day’s grandmother, Carol Anne Day, were also charged with witness intimidation, a felony, for allegedly threatening the witness, which initially prevented her from testifying at a preliminary hearing.

Destiny Day, 22, and Carol Day, 59, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the violation of a no-contact order, a misdemeanor. Destiny Day was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 79 days suspended and credit for 11 days of pretrial incarceration, court records indicate. Carol Day also drew a 90-day sentence with 87 days suspended and credit for three days, court records show.

Jayden Day, 18, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 4. Available court records do not indicate if there are sentencing recommendations in the case.
