YOU NEVER know what you'll find in the barrow ditch or median between lanes of travel during a clean-up effort. Volunteer Lisa Samsel is about to place a huge rusty wrench in her trash bag.

Saturday, April 13 is the date for the annual Buttercup Run at Arlee, and the course for the event was prepared with the effort of about 45 volunteers.

The run starts in front of Arlee High School, and proceeds through town and south along Powwow and Jocko roads.

According to organizer Cheri Garcelon, check-in begins at 9 a.m. outside the high school. The half-mile run starts at 10 a.m., followed by the beginning of the 10-kilometer (10K) walk at 10:30 a.m. Three events then begin, including a 1-mile “fun run,” 5K walk/run and 10K run.

Under the auspices of the Arlee Community Development Corporation, the Buttercup Run is sponsored by the Friends of Arlee and net proceeds go for student scholarships.

For more information, call Garcelon at 406-726-3270.
