Job Service Libby is sponsoring an informational workshop for local businesses, residents looking for employment and for anyone interested in learning about various business building tools.

Myranda Cravens, Libby Chamber of Commerce general manager, said that, overall, everyone in Libby could really benefit from the workshop. A lot of the material is helpful for small businesses.

The Assistance for Business Clinic, on May 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will cover a wide range of material, she said. Everything from unemployment to tax incentives.

“I think there’s a little bit of something for everybody,” she said.

Even just the law and regulation updates would be nice for people to learn about, she said. Libby does not really have anything else like this workshop.

Jim Hammons, Libby City administrator and a participant of the last clinic, said the clinic is very informational and really helpful for people just starting a business.

“It’s a good place to go get started,” he said.

Experts will share their knowledge and answer questions, he said.

Hammons recommended for the small business owners who are attending, to come prepared with questions. They cover topics such as unemployment, insurance and dealing with quitting employees.

The clinic will have a lot of bookkeeping information for small businesses, he said. If people get a chance to attend, they should.

Ericka Hartley, owner of Pure North Athletic Club, said the clinic really helped her learn how to best hire employees. The workshop gave information on what questions to ask potential employees and when to start hiring.

Hartley took a lot of notes at the last clinic and encouraged local business owners to come to the upcoming clinic. Attending was absolutely helpful, she said.

Myranda is planning on going to the clinic and is optimistic about this year’s attendance.

“I’m hoping for a big turnout,” she said.

Attendees can register for $30 by either stopping into the chamber office, calling the chamber, calling Job Service Libby or by emailing [email protected].

The deadline to RSVP is April 22. The clinic will be held in the Ponderosa Room at Libby City Hall.
