Mott's monster day keys Cardinal sweep

PASCO, Wash. — Sophomore Madi Mott homered as part a four-hit opener for North Idaho College in a 17-4 win over the Columbia Basin Hawks in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Mott drove in five runs for NIC, which scored 13 unanswered runs after Columbia Basin tied the game at 4-4 after three innings.

Sarah Williams had four hits and three RBIs and Bailey Cavanagh drove in three runs in the first game for NIC.

In the nightcap, Mott homered twice and drove in five runs as the Cardinals beat the Hawks 25-10 for the sweep.

Taylor Anderson went 4 for 4 with four runs scored in the second game for NIC (23-9-1, 17-5 NWAC), which faces the Community Colleges of Spokane in a doubleheader Wednesday at Post Falls High School, starting Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Columbia Basin is 12-13, 9-12.
