Two Bullpups, three relay teams win at CDA Charter Invitational

Rusty Lee’s pair of wins in the boys 110 meter hurdles (16.57) and the 200 (24.40), plus Aurora Miller’s 33-0 throw in the girls shot highlighted Sandpoint Middle School track and field’s showing that the CDA Charter Invitational on April 25.
Although Lee and Miller were the Bullpups’ lone first-place individual finishes, the girls 4x100 (56.72) and both the girls and the boys’ 4x200 relays teams won in a 1:49.19 and a 2:03, respectively.
Other top five finishers include the aforementioned Miller — who nearly missed out on her second win of the meet with a 77-4 in the girls discus — Lee’s second-place finish in the high jump (5-2), and Evan Dickinson’s second-place finish in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:25.16.
Ara Clark ran a 5:44.94 in the 1600 meters but was edged out at the finish line by River City’s Kaley Bohl, who won the event in a 5:44.06. Bohl would also beat out Sandpoint Middle School’s Karin Davidson in the 400 meters; the former won the meet in a 1:05.53, while Davidson was close behind in a 1:05.6.
SMS’s boys 4x100 meter relay team also finished third with a time of 52.94.
Sandpoint is bearing down towards the Middle School Districts meet (for large schools), which will be held at Lake City High School this Thursday.
