KELLOGG — Silver Mountain has been hard at work lately trying to create new amenities for its customers and its new Sports Shop is the latest way of doing that.

The new shop was opened with a festive ribbon cutting on July 31 at its new location at the resort.

Silver Mountain has always had a bike and apparel shop, but in a much smaller space and with the new location it has been able to fill some niche needs.

The Silver Mountain Sports Shop is located on the ground floor of building C of the resort, just 100 feet from its previous location, but the larger space has added more retail opportunities, as well as a technician space where Silver Mountain has staff ready to help visitors repair and modify their mountain bikes.

“The new sports shop is a full-service bike shop and clothing store,” said Gus Colburn, Silver Mountain marketing director. “We sell bike gear such as protective pads, gloves, helmets and bike components, as well as T-shirts, jerseys, jackets and sunglasses. This is also our rental bike headquarters, and where our mechanics tune-up or repair bikes.”

It’s not just for bikes though.

Silver Mountain has two major seasons, warm weather biking, as well as skiing and snowboarding.

“Focus will shift in the winter to outfitting customers with the best ski clothes available,” Colburn said. “Ski tune-ups and repairs will also take place here. This new shop is an advantage for both Valley residents and guests, as it provides high-quality outdoor apparel, gear and expertise without the need to drive to Coeur d’Alene or Spokane.”

Sports Shop supervisor Jennifer Smith is very pleased with the new shop, as well as what the move meant for the previous space.

“What we did at the old location was created a strictly Silver Mountain logo and apparel shop,” Smith said. “Previously, we had all of this plus our Silver Mountain-specific stuff in that one shop. This has allowed us to bring in more for our customers in both spots.”

Silver Mountain Sports is open seven days a week in the summer, with hours ranging from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays.
