COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d'Alene School Board Chairman Casey Morrisroe has submitted the paperwork to run for re-election.

Morrisroe has four daughters in the Coeur d'Alene School District and he graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School. He said that without the efforts of his teachers and staff when he attended CHS, he wouldn't be where he is today.

"The support I received at CHS meant a lot to me," he said Monday. "I feel like I have a debt to repay there."

Morrisroe said consistency is another reason he feels motivated to run for his second consecutive term. Superintendent Steve Cook has only been with the district about one year, and with plenty to tackle from the curriculum audit report conducted earlier this year, Morrisroe said it's important Cook and the district have consistency to address what needs to be done.

"The turnover at the board level and at the superintendent level is challenging, as it is for any business," said Morrisroe, who represents Zone 2.

"To me it's important (Cook) has consistency," Morrisroe said. "I felt like I owed it to him to continue, just to help support the district so we can change these things."

Zone 3 Trustee Tambra Pickford's seat will also be up for election in November. She told The Press that although she is just getting back from vacation, she plans to run for re-election and have all of the necessary paperwork in by the Sept. 6 candidate deadline.

If re-elected, this would also be Pickford's second consecutive term.

"I’ve really just enjoyed that role of serving the community and the district," Pickford said. "I'm proud to be a part of the process of the many things that come across our desk."
