People For People adds new Ritzville route

MOSES LAKE — People For People offers a variety of services to people in the Othello area and on Aug. 1 they began full-time routes to Ritzville and the Tri-Cities.
The new route from Othello to Ritzville includes stops at the library and Zip’s in Ritzville and the Walmart and Columbia Basin Health Association (CBHA) in Othello. The service runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is no cost to ride the bus and donations are accepted. They also offer a community connector bus between Moses Lake and Ritzville. Reservations are required to ride the bus.
The new route to the Tri-Cities includes stops at Othello CBHA, Connell CBHA, JC’s Mesa Grocery & Deli, Lourdes Medical Center, Trios Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Richland Medical Center, WorkSource Columbia Basin and Three Rivers Transit Center. The service will run Monday through Friday.
Othello residents can also connect to Moses Lake via the Othello/Warden bus. Othello stops on that route include: Othello Walmart, CBHA, Othello Community Hospital, Coventry House, 624 S. Andres Road, Bethel Assembly of God and Othello Pioneer Park. Warden stops include Washington Potato, Lamb Weston and the Warden Police Station. Once a day, the bus also goes to the Moses Lake Multimodal Transit Center. The rest of the day, passengers can connect to a Grant Transit Authority bus in Warden to complete their journey to Moses Lake.

Othello looking for donations for annual Christmas baskets
OTHELLO — About 45 years ago, four volunteer firefighters decided to make Christmas food and gift baskets and give them to seven families who needed some extra help. The next year, they gave baskets to more families. In the years since, the Othello Community Christmas Baskets has become a city-wide event with various groups raising money, food, warm clothes and toys for Othello families in need.
