School board approves new 2-year Classified Union contract

The School District 6 Board approved a new two-year contract with the Columbia Falls Classified Union last week that will see several positions at the school receive raises.
Under the new agreement, kitchen helpers, custodians, cooks, drivers, transportation and dispatch workers, utility worker, groundskeepers, mechanics, paraeducators and aids will each receive a 45-cent per hour raise for the upcoming school year and another raise of the same amount in 2020-21.
In addition, paraeducators who are removed from their normal assignment to serve as substiute teachers will receive and additional $1 per hour.
In other action, the board acknowledged the resignations of kindergarten paraeducator Morgan Christianson and head high school swim coach Emily von Jentzen.
