The Whitefish Planning Board met Thursday, Aug. 15 to discuss a variety of permit applications, zone changes and a zoning text amendment.

Board members Whitney Beckham, Allison Linville, John Middleton, Steve Qunell, Toby Scott and Frank Sweeney were in attendance.

The planning board:

- Unanimously recommended approval for a request by Stuart Bray for a conditional use permit to construct an accessory apartment at his Minnesota Avenue property. A single-family dwelling is proposed for the property, which is zoned WR-2 two-family residential. The request is set to go before City Council on Sept. 3.

- Unanimously recommended approval for a conditional use permit for an accessory apartment for a new single-family home project on Barkley Lane. The property, which used to have a triplex on the site, is zoned WR-1 one-family residential. The request was made by David Radatti of Mindful Designs on behalf of Julie Baldridge Revocable Living Trust. The request is set to go before City Council on Sept. 3.

- Unanimously recommended approval for a request by Genevieve Prizeman for a conditional use permit to construct an accessory apartment at a single-family dwelling on Third Street. The property is zoned WR-2. The request is set to go before City Council on Sept. 3.

- Unanimously recommended approval for a request by the city of Whitefish to rezone two parcels of land annexed into city limits located on Highway 93 South. The parcels were previously zoned as County B-4/HO (secondary business with a highway overlay) and will be rezoned to WB-2 secondary business district. The request is set to go before City Council on Sept. 16.

- Unanimously recommended approval for a request by the city for a zoning text amendment to the front and side yard setbacks in the property development standards for the WB-3 general business district. The change is part of the 2015 Downtown Master Plan implementation for the shopping loop emphasis streets. A 5-foot setback would be implemented for lots fronting the shopping loop, while a 15-foot setback would be added to side lots. The request is set to go before City Council on Sept. 16.
