Shanna Kunz was presented the Lucile Van Slyck Best in Show Award at the Hockaday Museum of Art’s “A Timeless Legacy” exhibit earlier this month. The award was given in recognition of the most outstanding presentation of three works of art.

Kunz’s works included “Sinopah in Backlight,” “Winter Thaw at Logan Pass” and “Brilliant Hillside.”

The exhibit showcases the works of 23 professional women artists who were invited to paint en plein aire in Glacier National Park earlier this year.

The critically acclaimed artists from across the United States and Canada created works of art expressing the sublime beauty of Glacier Park, its grandeur, wildlife and indigenous cultures and settlements along the park’s boundaries. Now in its fifth year, “A Timeless Legacy” reflects the art of the pioneering artists who painted in Glacier over the last century.

The exhibit runs through Sept. 21. A limited number of fine art pieces are available for sale. The show and sale are major fundraisers for the Hockaday. A portion of every sales directly benefits the museum, helping build its art acquisition funds, supporting artists and continuing to brings world-class art and cultural exhibits to the Flathead Valley.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. It is located at 302 Second Ave. E. in Kalispell.
