BONNERS FERRY — The grandstands were filled with people who came to watch and participate in the Boundary County Fair Family Fun Night on Saturday, Aug. 17. They delayed the start time to wait for everyone who was still in the lines waiting to come in.
Participants signed up in advance to compete in a multitude of games for all ages, including Duck and Chicken Scrambles, Greased Pig, Tug-A-War, and equestrian games.
With a huge turnout of participants, they even had to break the 3 Legged Race down into two groups as they ran out of gunny sacks.
During the first Duck Scramble, the throng of young children jumped the gun after the ducks and one chicken were released. They were supposed to start after the truck and trailer were removed. Unable to stop the excited group of kids at first, the excitement forced the flock of ducks to seek shelter under the truck.
After a brief calm down period, the children were put back in line and the ducks were safely removed from under the truck so it could be removed from the arena.
From the cheers of the audience, to the smiles on the faces of the participants, the family Fun Night proved to be a highlight of the Boundary County Fair yet again.
