PUNISHMENT: Capital is OK

I believe that the letter by Lori Miller, “Murderers: They deserve to die,” has a valid point. I believe the last I heard is that California had 736 on their death row and their governor recently put a hold on any executions. I think the French had the right idea with the guillotine. It is quick and sure. There is no doubt about its effectiveness. No waste of electricity, no venting out of poisonous gas to the atmosphere and no costly drugs or machines to administer them.

I suggest a concrete room and floor with a sloping to a drain in the middle and a high pressure fire hose to wash it clean. How can the death penalty be a deterrent if it is not enforced swiftly? I wonder how many die of old age before sentence is ever carried out.

Also, our jails are now taking care of more geriatrics than ever before. Lastly, I am sure a lot of killers don’t care or worry about the consequences after taking someone’s life.
