SANDPOINT — A man was arrested for allegedly groping a teenage boy’s genitals in Clark Fork on Tuesday.
Kurt William Naffziger is charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and resisting arrest for allegedly struggling with Bonner County sheriff’s deputies.
Naffziger, 65, was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Wednesday. Minutes from the hearing, however, were not immediately available on Wednesday afternoon.
Naffziger was arrested after deputies were alerted to reports of a suspicious male making kids uncomfortable, a probable cause affidavit said. Several juveniles who were interviewed said Naffziger made inappropriate gestures and comments to them. A 16-year-old girl said Naffziger made comments about her body and the girl’s mother said Naffziger appeared to have an inappropriate fixation with her daughter and other juveniles in Clark Fork, according to the affidavit.
A teenage boy, meanwhile, told deputies that Naffziger grabbed his genitals while teaching him self-defense moves, the affidavit alleges. The boy’s age is listed as 15 in the affidavit and 13 in the criminal complaint.
Deputies Alex Fowler and Ray Britton found Naffziger inside the Cabinet Mountain Bar & Grill. Naffziger said he would not answer any questions without an attorney present and refused to leave. The affidavit alleges that Naffziger lunged at the deputies, who grabbed him and placed him into handcuffs after a brief struggle.
A preliminary hearing on the felony lewd conduct charge is scheduled for Sept. 4.
