SANDPOINT — With the majority of the young roster playing in Memorial Field for the first time, the Sandpoint boys soccer team shut out Stillwater Christian in a 4-0 win.

“I’m finally starting to see them clicking,” French said. “Most of the boys had high completion rates as far as passing, so we’re obviously moving the ball in a way that we intend to. There’s much work to do, but I’m looking forward to it based on this game.”

While French said the energy to start the game wasn’t where he wanted it to be, the Sandpoint attack gained momentum midway through the first half. Crosses from Zander Moore finally paid off in the 20th minute, as freshman Randy Lane recovered his header off the top bar and scored from inside the box.

From there, the barrage commenced. Five minutes later, freshman Stirling Roget’s received a pass from Kris Berget, then seamed his shot through several Cougar defenders and through the back left corner of the net.

Junior Chris Koch scored his first goal of the season from outside the box in the 37th minute, giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, Nolan Angell — who put pressure on the Cougars’ defense throughout the evening — scored the fourth and final goal of the night for Sandpoint.

Sandpoint’s defense didn’t allow a single shot on goal throughout the game; the offense pressed Stillwater Christian with 34 shots.

The Bulldogs (1-1-1)will host Post Falls on Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
