MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake nursing home Columbia Crest Center will be opening its doors for a Vitalant blood drive Dec. 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Organizers are looking for 10 more donors to achieve a full schedule for the day. Donations typically take less than thirty minutes, including time needed to fill out paperwork.

Vitalant, a nonprofit organization that collects blood and distributes it across the country, services several local area hospitals and needs 200 donors per day to supply the components needed for chemotherapy, transfusions, and major surgeries, according to a press release.

“Just think... when you give blood, you give another: another anniversary, another day at the beach, another night under the stars, another talk with friend, another hug, another chance!” Vitalant wrote in a press release.

Those looking to donate can make an appointment by visiting vitalant.org. The organization also maintains a reward program for repeat donors, and information about that program can also be found on their website.

Those seeking more information can email Julie Johnson, Community Liaison for Columbia Crest, at julie.johnson9@columbiacrestcenter.com.
