OTHELLO — Several Christmas related events will be happening in Othello in December. Four of the events will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The Delta Epsilon chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi will be holding their annual bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wahitis Elementary School.
“There will be lots of good vendors — homemade crafts, baked goods, direct sales,” said Joey Gardner, the person in charge of vendor reservations.
The proceeds from the bazaar are put toward scholarships given to Othello High School seniors.
Also starting at 10 a.m., the Old Hotel Art Gallery will be having their Christmas opening.
“We are going to be having all kinds of food samples, goodies to try and Christmas music,” said Jenn Stevenson, manager of the Old Hotel.
Items available will include ornaments, home decor and gift items.
“We have gift type items that are perfect for secret sisters and neighbors,” Stevenson said. “We have bigger things and other kinds of seasonal items, plus our normal types of arts and crafts.”
The Old Hotel will also have a booth at Christmas bazaar at Wahitis. They will be doing free art projects for children.
“A Christmas Miracle on Main Street” will start at 3 p.m. at the Othello City Hall. The Christmas parade will begin at 5 p.m. The route will start at Kix Stand, traveling down Main Street to Fourth Avenue. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a tree lighting in front of City Hall.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, the Othello Choral Society will have their first performance of “Love Made a Way” at the Othello Nazarene Church. They will hold a second performance at the church on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 p.m. Two additional performances will be held, one at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Bethel Spanish Assembly of God, in Othello, and at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, in Moses Lake. There is no charge to attend, but a love offering will be taken.
Also on Dec. 14 and 15 from 5 to 8 p.m., the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 12th Avenue and Rainier Street in Othello, will be hosting a nativity exhibit.
“The nativities to be displayed are from all over the world,” said Bud Wilhelm, of the church.
The event will feature live music, including students from local schools.
“There will be special numbers all night,” Wilhelm said. “It’s not a program. You can come during any of those times.”
This is the first time the display is being held in Othello.
