Curtis John Van Scyoc III, 73
Curtis John Van Scyoc III, 73, passed away Nov. 16, 2019, unexpectedly at home in Athol, Idaho.
John was born in Hemet, Calif., on July 15, 1946, to Curtis Van Scyoc and Lillie Mae (Fields) Van Scyoc. He was an only child.
John entered the United States Army after he completed high school. When he returned to civilian life, he found himself working in Spokane, Wash., employed with the Local Union #44 as a welder. John really enjoyed welding and stayed there until his retirement.
John enjoyed scuba diving, boating, working in his greenhouse and raising cows. John loved his furry friends. He also had many friends; most days he would gather for a few laughs at the local American Legion in Athol. John was always willing to help his family and friends at a moment’s notice.
John is survived by his wife, Debbie of Athol; mother-in-law, Barbara Jodi Hodgson; brother-in-law, Mike Hodgson of Athol; John Hodgson and wife, Gerianne of Post Falls; sister-in-law, Ralene Wilson and husband, Gary of Helena, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a gathering in the spring to honor the life of John.
Memorials in John’s name are suggested to Kootenai Humane Society in Hayden, Idaho.
Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
