Libby Planning Board member Gary Neff has resigned ahead of his reappointment to the committee.

City council announced Neff’s departure from the board during its Dec. 2 meeting. Neff, whose reappointment was on the council’s agenda that evening, cited health reasons.

“I really enjoyed having Gary on the board,” said City Councilor Kristin Smith. “I’m really sad that he’s having health issues.”

Neff previously served as a city councilor, taking a seat on the board for four months in 2015. He was appointed to replace outgoing City Councilor Bill Bischoff.

At the end of his four-month term, Neff said he planned to stay active in local government while mulling a potential bid for mayor.

Neff was considered a resident freeholder within city limits.
