POST FALLS — Police have identified two runaway teens as suspects in last week’s burglary of the Post Falls Boys & Girls Club.

On the evening of Nov. 30, the suspects reportedly broke into the building, causing thousands of dollars in damages. The suspects allegedly stole laptops, a camera and other equipment. They also wrote obscene messages on the walls in several rooms.

The Post Falls Police Department investigated the incident and identified a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old as suspects. The teens were reportedly arrested for unrelated matters in Spokane, Wash. Both suspects are Post Falls residents.

Investigators interviewed the suspects on Friday and confirmed they were responsible for the burglary, according to a new release.

Police said the case was solved in part because school resource officers have developed a rapport with their students, which helped them to identify the suspects.

Ryan Davis, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County, told The Press this week that the suspects’ actions made him feel “violated.”

“This is a safe place for kids,” he said. “When you have individuals as brazen as these were, it’s disheartening.”

The club was closed Monday so staff could paint over the obscenities on the walls and clean up the damage.

The Post Falls Police Department is working to recover the stolen property. Meanwhile, the Boys & Girls Club has reopened to the community.

The teens remain in custody at this time. Charges related to the Boys & Girls Club burglary will be filed in the near future, according to police.
