Brian Kenneth Marcus, 79, passed away Dec. 5, 2019, unexpectedly at home in Hayden, Idaho.
Brian was born in Detroit, Mich., on July 8, 1940, to Bernard Marcus and Edith (Stephens) Marcus. He was the second born of three sons. The family relocated to Los Angeles and then to Glendale, Calif. Brian graduated from Hoover High School and worked with his parents and other family members at their electric motor repair business, Marcus Electric Company.
Brian married his wife of 52 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Cunningham, on June 24, 1967. They lived and worked in Glendale and enjoyed weekends at their mountain home in Big Bear Lake, Calif. After Brian retired, they relocated to Hayden in 1991.
Brian volunteered on various committees with the City of Hayden and served as a director for the Hayden Lake Irrigation District. Boating, golfing and model trains were Brian’s primary hobbies, and he also enjoyed going to auctions.
Brian is survived by his wife, Kathy of Hayden; his brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Mary Marcus of Garwood; and nieces, nephews and cousins in various states. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Guy.
At Brian’s request, no services will be held. Memorials in Brian’s name are suggested to the Kootenai Humane Society in Hayden, or to a charity of one’s choice.
The Neptune Society has been entrusted with final arrangements.
