Cardinals go 3-0 on

first day in

Great Falls

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Isaac Lopez (125 pounds), Sal Silva (157), Navarro Nanpuya (165) and Cohle Feliciano (285) went unbeaten for the Cardinals in duals against NAIA foes Simon Fraser, Dickinson State and Montana State-Northern in the Battle of the Rockies duals tournament at the University of Providence.

NIC defeated Simon Fraser 34-17, Dickinson State 28-18 and Montana State-Northern 24-21 to improve to 9-1 on the season.

“We can wrestle better than we did today,” NIC coach Mike Sebaaly said. “We’re happy to go 3-0, and were missing some guys. We were missing (Jake) Swift and (Jake) Malchuski due to illness, and won’t wrestle Isaac and Hunter (Gregerson) in the tournament because of that. To come on the road is a little harder, but the guys gutted out some wins in some tough situations when we weren’t at our best.”

NIC will compete in the Battle of the Rockies bracketed tournament today starting at 8 a.m. PST.
