FOOD BANK: Turkeys & More thanks donors
Generous donors helped Turkeys & More make Thanksgiving more joyful for 1,700 families. The Community Action Partnership (CAP) Food Bank, with the help of volunteers, distributed the turkeys and holiday food the weekend before Thanksgiving. A very special thanks to the following financial donors:
$5,000 — Parker Toyota; $2,000 — The Coeur d’Alene Tribe; $1,500 — Kootenai Electric, Panhandle Kiwanis, Schuon Manufacturing and the Coeur d’Alene Press; $1,000 — Empire Airlines and Northwest Specialty Hospital. Those donating $500 included: Academy Mortgage, Coeur d’Alene Eagles, Coeur d’Alene Garden Club, Coeur d’Alene Rotary, Horizon Credit Union, Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene, Knudtsen Chevrolet, Monarch Development and Sunrise Rotary. Donating from $200-250 were: Thomas and Arlene Frankovich, James and Doreen Irving, and Barbara Powers.
Other valued donors of up to $100 included: Deidre Ashmore, Brian and Jodi Babb, Ann Burgeson. Michael and Kathleen Brown, Sally Donovan, Paul and Lisa Ferguson, Hagadone Hospitality, Michael and Nancy Holiman, Sherry and Dennis Irish, Sandra Kay. Robert and Paula McCall, Vicki Markizon, Marshall and Dolly Mend, Keith and Valerie Peila, Robert and Nancy Reish, Sharon Weiss, White Pine Wealth Mgmt., Terrell and Constance Williams, Stanley and Halladay Sanderson, Mark and Gale Stromberg, Cissy Strouse and Barbara Zimmer.
Darrell Rickard and his crew at the CAP Food Bank in the Industrial Park did a super job of getting the turkeys and holiday food distributed. Thanks to Margret O’Leary, volunteer coordinator, for lining up the wonderful groups who assisted on Saturday and Sunday. They included people from: Slick Rock Tanning & Spa, Wells Fargo Bank, The Corps Group and regular volunteers at the food bank.
Billie Flannery supervised volunteers who helped fill the bags and a crew from U.S. Bank Call Center worked all day on Tuesday, Nov. 19, to get them ready. Others helping were Merrill and Christine Owens, and Bill Manning.
Evalyn Adams, Turkeys & More coordinator, said her committee members this year were great support and helped raise the funds needed to buy the food. They were: Art Elliott, Barbara and James Fillmore, Peter Luttropp and Bob Driscoll. Super 1 Foods provided an excellent bid to buy and deliver the turkeys and food.
A special thanks to Community Action Partnership for allowing food distribution at the food bank this year and for retaining and managing the funds raised by Turkeys & More the last three years.
We received wonderful publicity and support from the Coeur d’Alene Press. They were great partners again this year and helped us Fight Hunger and Feed Hope! Annie Luttropp provided the excellent ad copy.
With sincere appreciation to all who helped,
EVALYN ADAMS, volunteer coordinator
